Carleton Rode Playgroup and Kindergarten is a registered charity. We are run by a committee made up of parents of children at the setting and other interested parties within the community. If you are interested in joining the committee please contact us.
In our sessions we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Please see the Department of Education Website for more information on this.
Children enjoy varied activities during our sessions which include, sport and outside play, cooking, music, sensory play, role play, painting, arts and crafts, listening, etc. All children have a learning story book in which the staff use to chart milestones and successes, this includes pieces of work, photographs and observations of the child. These are available for the parents to view whenever they wish.
Our Kindergarten sessions at Carleton Rode School take place in a purpose built Log Cabin which shares an outside area with the Tiger Class. We have found this is excellent for a smooth transition into school as the children are already comfortable with the surroundings.
We often go on trips and have visitors in to talk to the children. In the past year we have been on a trip to Nuture by Nature forest school, had visits from a Nurse, Road Safety Officer, Optician, visited Wymondham Fire Station and had a summer trip to the Dinosaur Park in Lenwade.
Our Supervisors Allison Ward and Linzi Haistead have countless years of experience working with children at both Playgroup, Kindergarten and Allison also at Carleton Rode School she is therefore a fantastic asset both when the children are at our settings but also if they move on to the school.
Our assistants Helen McGuinness, Shirley Abbott, Liz Kerridge and Anna Collett together have over 40 years of experience of looking after children and do so with the utmost care and attention to every child’s needs.
